Step 1: Fill DS-160 Form
The first step in applying for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa is to complete your application. It takes approximately 90 minutes to do this. After you submit your application, you can move on to the next steps such as scheduling your interview.
DS-160 form is needs to be filled and submitted for every visitor separately. There is no combined form for Family. Once DS-160 form submitted, you will get a Confirmation Page, which is a mandatory document needs to carry for Fingerprints appointment and Consular Interview.

Step 2: Create Visa Appointment Profile
To schedule a visa interview or enter your visa delivery address, you will need to register and create a profile online.
If you already have a profile, please do not create a new one. You can always modify your existing profile by logging in using your user ID and password.
No need to create Profile for each applicant, Instead Primary person can add Dependents/Family Members to his/her profile, and Schedule Interview for all of them.

Step 3: Pay VISA fee
Visa Fee for each applicant is around $190. VISA fee can be paid online (using NEFT) or by visiting specified banks.
Step 4: Schedule VISA Appointment
If you are applying for first time, you need to schedule below appointments
- Appointment for Visa Application Center (VAC), to give ten-fingerprints and your photo.
- Appointment for US Consulate Interview.
If you are renewing or reapplying for Visitors Visa within 12 months of prior VISA expiry, you may qualify for Visa interview waiver program. In this case you need to schedule appointment for Dropbox, and no need to attend interview in person.
- Appointment for Visa Application Center (VAC), to give your Visa application.
