Reporting Services can be installed on the same computer as SQL Server. The client
component of Reporting Services (Report Client) can be installed on the same computer
as the other components or on separate client computers. Also, various report rendering
formats may have different requirements. For example, Portable Document Format (PDF)
files require Adobe Acrobat Reader, while .xls files require Microsoft Excel XP
or later.
